The ability to read well or to have assistance with reading when needed is helpful. Strong reading skills can be developed. Some students may need to bolster their reading and vocabulary skills in our computer lab using Read 180 and be prepared to use various other strategies.
The ability to write coherently is also extremely important as the majority of coursework involves written activities. Writing labs offered during the week will assist you developing your skills.
Possessing sufficient self-discipline or self-direction to remain focused on learning tasks long enough to reach specific, agreed upon objectives is a necessity. The student must exercise persistence in order to complete assignments on their own, often researching through reference materials, and sometimes with help from their teacher, parents, or friends in the form of tutorial assistance and encouragement. This kind of self-discipline is a fairly complex behavior that reflects both aptitude and acquired skills and attitudes.
