Welcome to Foothills school
Grades 6-12 Independent Study

Foothills Independent Study School provides an alternative educational learning environment which offers individualized education plans for students whose needs may best be met outside of the regular classroom setting.  Independent study is an alternative to classroom instruction and consistent with the SMUSD course of study.  It is not alternative curriculum.

The IS program offers open entry/exit enrollment and participation is voluntary.  Students in grades 9-12 receive high school credit for all coursework completed and can graduate as soon as they have completed the SMUSD Board approved requirements.  With this in mind, acceleration of the academic program is a possibility.
